Planning & Zoning
Planning and Zoning Staff perform development review on projects big and small to ensure compliance with Aspen's Land Use Code. From large multifamily housing, commercial, or lodge projects, to the development of a new single family home, to the addition of a new fence or hot tub, Staff works to make sure that established community values are maintained, and possible conflicts with neighboring properties are minimized.
Community Development (Planning, Building, Environmental Health and Sustainability)
The Community Development Department will provide service to the public through employees working remotely until further notice. Meetings may be conducted through various virtual meeting formats.
Builder and Planner of the Day email and voicemail accounts will be monitored throughout each business day. Timely responses should be expected as time and volume permits.
Please use the Salesforce customer portal for: permitting, building permit applications, inspections, and other community development services. Meetings must be scheduled in advance via the Planner or Builder of the Day phone/email or directly with the staff with whom you’ve been working. Land use applications can be submitted electronically directly to the planner with whom you’ve been working. Payments can be made through Salesforce, by mail or appointment if no alternative is available.
If you have general questions about the development process or specific questions about a particular property or the Land Use Code, please use our Planner of the Day service. We have walk-in hours available on a daily basis and a message to our voice mail or email system will be replied to within one business day by a member of our Planning and Zoning Staff.
The City's Long Range Planning efforts seek to implement the Aspen Area Community Plan through community outreach and policy development.
