Historic Preservation Contractor Information

General Contractors working on a Historic Preservation project within the City of Aspen must have an active Historic Preservation Contractor License issued by the City of Aspen throughout the entire duration of the project. This licensing program is specific to the Historic Preservation Program for the City of Aspen. A Historic Preservation BEST card is not the same as a Contractor License.

  • Historic Preservation Contractor License is valid for 3 years.
  • The Historic Preservation BEST card is attached to the test taker and not the company. When a cardholder leaves a company, the card goes with him/her.
  • General contractors must have the Historic Preservation BEST card with them on site.
