Press ReleaseCity Manager Applications Now Being AcceptedContact: Alissa Farrell, Interim Assistant City Manager/HR Director, 970-920-5743, or Alissa.firstname.lastname@example.orgAspen, Colorado – June 4, 2019 – The City of Aspen is now actively soliciting City Manager candidates through its executive search firm, Peckham & McKenney. The City held community open houses in May to allow members of the public to offer their insights and feedback on the most desirable qualities they’d like to see in the City’s next leader. In addition, current Council and Council-elect were instrumental in guiding the vision for the candidate along with staff input. Comprehensive feedback was incorporated into a recruitment brochure detailing the job profile. The brochure is an integral tool for recruiting candidates who would be the best fit for Aspen. The brochure stresses managing the balance between Aspen’s resort and community, highlights the value of community input and communication, stresses finesse with strategic planning and organizational analysis, financial acumen, strong collaboration skills, a champion of transparent and customer service-oriented government, and a proclivity toward innovation and progressive ideas.“The authentic and candid feedback that helped build the candidate profile was a testament to the community and the public’s level of engagement with this process,” said Alissa Farrell, Interim Assistant City Manager and HR Director. “We are grateful for the input and the positive energy around this process. The final brochure creates a distinct picture of what the City and community are seeking for the skills and qualities of our next leader.”Peckham & McKenney will now advertise nationally and provide outreach to candidates on behalf of the City, highlighting Aspen’s government, community, and distinct values. It has been over two decades since Aspen recruited for a new City Manager and this process offers a unique opportunity for the community to articulate what they want most in a municipal leader. “Aspen did a great job contributing to the preparation of the candidate profile,” Andrew Gorgey, with Peckham & McKenney said. “Engagement was high from all concerned, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful participation of the incumbent, outgoing, and incoming elected officials.”The hiring range for this position is $180,000-$214,000 with comprehensive benefits based on experience and qualifications. Candidates have until July 8 to apply. Interviews will occur over the summer with the expectation of final interviews taking place August 8-9 in a process to include community feedback. The brochure can be viewed on the City Manager’s page at www.cityofaspen.com and at www.peckhamandmckenney.com.###
