City of Aspen and ACRA hosting Two Virtual Town Hall Meetings on COVID Winter Planning

Business Specific Meeting and Community Focused Meetings Scheduled

The City of Aspen and Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA) are hosting two virtual town hall meetings to discuss COVID winter planning and get feedback from the business and community-at-large on how summer went in Aspen with COVID mitigation and recovery efforts.  After the meetings, a report summarizing the feedback will be presented to Aspen City Council on Monday, October 12 to help guide future Council priorities and policies.

“As we plan for the coming winter we want to listen to our community about what was successful and what needs refining, to see how we can continue the positive elements already implemented and adapt for winter needs to support economic and social recovery in Aspen,” said Mayor Torre. “Our staff has already been engaged with winter planning efforts and the feedback will add greatly to the conversation.”

For anyone interested in participating, a survey is posted at  The survey is meant to gauge the community’s concerns about winter and collect feedback on this past summer.   The results will be used to guide the conversations for the town hall meetings.  Those interested in filling out the survey should do so as soon as possible but no later than September 29, 2020.  Registration to attend the town hall sessions is also on

The City and ACRA are working with Design Workshop to facilitate and organize the town halls.  The format will include a high-level summary of local and regional trends, and a review of pre-meeting survey results.  A more detailed discussion will follow that will be broken up by themes focused on how to create policies supportive of economic and social prosperity. The format will also include polling questions and opportunities for participants to provide feedback via voice or text depending on group size.  While the themes for discussion will be shaped by survey results, some likely categories will include workforce challenges, COVID mitigation efforts, and outdoor business opportunities.

“ACRA has strived to be an industry leader during this crisis. We want to hear from the business community on additional ways we can help navigate the daily challenges in the time of COVID to coordinate and work together to rise to the challenges we face during the road to recovery,” said Debbie Braun, President and CEO of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association.  “ACRA will take feedback on what worked well in the summer, how we need to pivot moving forward, and which resources and support businesses need to sustain themselves through the winter season and for the betterment of local business.

For those who cannot attend, input can be provided on
