Aspen 360°: A Look Inside Your Government Now Accepting ApplicationsThe City of Aspen’s annual program to enroll residents in an opportunity to learn how their government works is now open. Rebranded from Aspen Citizens Academy to Aspen 360°: A Look Inside Your Government is a six-session program that offers participants engaging, interactive content and time to communicate with many of the City’s department directors and staff. In addition, field trips to destinations like the Aspen Water Plant, John Denver Sanctuary and associated stormwater system, and The Wheeler Opera House for a historic tour are also included in the curriculum, weather dependent.Aspen 360° offers participants greater insight into how their government is structured, how decisions are made, how budgeting works, and how each department functions with opportunities to talk with decision-makers and City leaders. One of the goals is to offer a greater understanding on the City’s priorities, goals, and daily operations.The six sessions will cover the following curriculum:• City overview• Basic Services• Environment and Outdoors• The Build Environment and Infrastructure• Tax Dollar Funds and Special Services• Community Involvement and GraduationThe class curriculum will be presented in accordance with Pitkin County public health orders of Pitkin County and sessions will meet in-person with mandatory masks and may change formats according to health orders.The first class is on January 5, 2022 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The Academy runs through March 16 with classes scheduled every other week. Aspen residents will be offered participation first, but you do not have to be a City resident to participate.
