The Aspen Citizens Academy is now open for applications.

Have you ever wondered how Aspen’s local government operates? Apply to be in the Aspen Citizens Academy!

The Aspen Citizens Academy is a community program designed to inform and empower residents to better understand local governance and participate in informed solution-making. Over eleven class sessions, participants will meet City staff, learn about the many functions of the City, and discuss topics learned with fellow classmates. Our goal is to provide an in-depth understanding of government functions and inform participants of opportunities to be involved. See more here or on the Citizens Academy Facebook page.

Class and Enrollment Information: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live in the Roaring Fork Valley. Aspen residents may be given preference over those living outside of the City limits. Classes will be held from twice a month from August to December, 5:30-8:30pm on Thursday evenings. Optional social events and tours are offered throughout. The cost of the course is $59. A light dinner will be provided at each class. Please contact Michelle Holder at or (970) 429-2756 with questions.
