CO 82 Improvements Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is implementing a surface treatment project which started this spring with roundabout improvements and asphalt paving from the Aspen Airport Business Center east to the Maroon Creek Roundabout. Additional work includes guardrail replacement, traffic control device upgrades and striping improvements. This fall, work on the CO 82 corridor continues with reconstruction of the bridge joint on Castle Creek bridge.

Crews will begin work to replace the expansion joint at the west end of the Castle Creek Bridge starting Tuesday, Sept. 6. Detours will start Tuesday evening as all passenger vehicle traffic will utilize the westbound Power Plant Road detour. Emergency vehicles, RFTA buses and commercial vehicles will use Castle Creek Bridge, flaggers will assist with alternating traffic. Pedestrian detours will be clearly signed.
