Affordable Housing Mitigation Rate Update

On February 26th, City Council adopted a revised affordable housing mitigation fee-in-lieu rate schedule. Affordable housing mitigation is required for numerous development activities in the City. Fee-in-lieu is one of a handful of ways that development can meet its affordable housing requirement.

The revised schedule is based on a 7% increase in the Engineering News Record, Construction Cost Index from the time of the fee-in-lieu adoption in December 2015 and December 2017. The current and updated rates are listed below:

The revised schedule will go into effect on March 28, 2018. For more information, contact Justin Barker, Senior Planner, at 429-2797 or justin.barker@cityofaspen.com.

Ordinance No.5 - Series of 2018 - Calculations to Adopt a Revised Affordable Housing Mitigation Fee-in-Lieu Rate Schedule

At a public hearing on Monday, March 26,

City Council will be reviewing a proposed Land Use Code Amendment in Ordinance No. 6, Series of 2018.  While relatively minor in scale, the amendment proposes important changes to the Non-Conformities, Variances and Mountain View Plan Review sections of the code. Specifically, the proposed amendments to Non-Conformities and Variances change the timelines and deadlines to be more consistent, and require submission rather than issuance of a building permit to meet established deadlines.  Secondly, a surveying error in a previous amendment to the view plane review established an incorrect base elevation for each of the established view planes.  This amendment would implement the necessary technical correction.  For more information, contact Ben Anderson, Planner at 429-2765 or ben.anderson@cityofaspen.com.
